Microbial activity is stimulated once again, resulting in an increase in temperature. Due to the penetration of new oxygen into the pile, anaerobic zones, anaerobic processes and stench are prevented. During turning, the dry and wet zones of the piles are mixed, and the moisture level is equalized. Turning also ensures a higher degree of homogeneity and quality of the compost.

The turning is done with a special machine for overturning piles. The machine is of portal construction with a rotating drum in the middle. The drum contains knives arranged in a spiral shape. These knives are used to turn over and loosen the pile, and the spiral shape ensures that a trapezoidal furrow is formed as the most suitable shape for processing biodegradable mass. The drum has the ability to adjust the height so that the machine can be adapted to the terrain where the compost piles are turned.

The machine is self-contained, powered by a diesel generator and has a built-in system for additional moistening of the compost pile. The system consists of a water reservoir located on the upper side of the machine, from which the water is transported through hoses to the nozzles that spray water into the working area of ​​the machine.

The person operating the machine is placed in a closed, glazed cabin positioned on the upper part of the machine with side access. This position of the cabin ensures high-quality visibility of the working environment. The machine moves using tracks, each of which is driven separately, which allows it to turn around its own axis.
